Social Justice Week Student Research Symposium
In conjunction with Social Justice Week 2021, the School of Social Sciences Student Research Group (SSSRG) will presnt a virtual symposium of student work related to social justice themes.Submissions may include historical or contemporary studies on social justice topics including, but not limited to, environmental justice, reproductive justice, economic systems, prejudice and discrimination, criminal justice systems, wealth and poverty, educational access, populism, racism, and political polarization. Relevant projects can create context for understanding the operation of social justice in various times and places, and/or projects may reflect advocacy grounded in research.
We invite proposals from current or recent undergraduate and graduate students that can be presented as short, narrated PowerPoints or narrated virtual posters (no more than five minutes). You may also be invited to share your work in a live session if we are able to host one. Eligible projects could include, for example:
- independent undergraduate or graduate (MA) projects where data collection is in progress or finished
- senior seminar or capstone class projects or papers
- research projects or papers for other classes
- SSCI 299 final group presentations
- conference presentations from Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 on which the student was the first author
